🕷Holiday at Indonesia

                                  Holiday at Indonesia

During late December, my family and I planned a trip to Padang and Bukittinggi at West Sumatera, Indonesia. We left for the airport on 20th December early in the morning. In the afternoon, we checked-in to our hotels after we arrived. Then, we ate lunch at Lamun Ombak before heading off to Adityawarman Museum. We saw various artefacts and also preserved animals within its display cases. There were also skulls and bones of prehistoric humans at the site. As the sun was setting, my family and I went to Pantai Air Manis to chill out. There was also a rock which resembled a man prostrating on a boat. Then we had a ride around the beach on a trishaw. After the ride, we had some sweet refreshing coconut water as a drink.

On the next day, we went island hopping. First of all, we took a motorboat to Pamutusan Island where my father, cousin and I trekked up a hill to take panoramic views of the island and the sea. We also had lunch nearby the hill. Then, we stopped by at Sirandah Island where we drank some cooling drinks and rested at the lazy chairs nearby. For our third and last island, my father, cousin and I went rock climbing up a tall and steep hill in Pasumpahan Island with our guide. I must say, it was a tiring and risky climb as the valley was quite steep and muddy. Plus, it was my first time rock climbing. But, our hard efforts climbing up the hill paid off as we observed a variety of scenic views on top of the mountain. We made sure we took many pictures of the place before we climbed down (Yup, it was waaaay harder to climb down). When we headed back to mainland, it was already dark, so we had dinner.

On the next morning, my father, cousin and I went down to the hotel's gym to exercise. About an hour later, my family and I met with one of my father's friends (his name is Ronnie) staying in Padang. He treated us lunch and we visited his house and his family afterwards. We also went window shopping at a nearby shopping complex and also enjoyed coffee at Coffee Bean and ice cream at Baskin Robbins. Furthermore, we took pictures at the Grand Mosque of West Sumatera. At night, we went to a night market and bought some crackers before having dinner at a Chinese-themed restaurant.

Early tomorrow morning, my family and I had breakfast with Ronnie and his family. Then, we left for Bukittinggi. Halfway through the journey, we visited Istano Basa Pagaruyung, an ancient Indonesian castle. It took a few hours to reach there since our driver took a longer route. Soon, we put our bags at the our hotel rooms and visited a famous clock tower called in the middle of town. Plus, we went window shopping again. There were also statues of famous figures nearby the clock tower.

Since there were many hills at Bukittinggi, we decided to go take some pictures of the scenery there. There was also a huge lake called Maninjau Lake which makes the landscape even more awesome. So, we rested somewhere near the lake before venturing to the top of the hills. At that area, there was a smart dog, whom we called ninja. He could even navigate his way up a hill from down below. Cool, right? Eventually, we stopped by at this place called Lawang Adventure Park. From up above, the view below looked amazing. It was like one of those places you would see in a fairytale world. We had some delicious banana fritters and took a few pictures on a boat hung as a decoration. There was also a few Hobbit Houses nearby the park. I would love the stay there if I had the chance. Next, we went to another park and went to the flying fox with my cousin. Since it was the first time for the both of us, it was a thrilling experience. For dinner, we had some Nasi Padang at a Restaurant with Ronnie for the last time.

We left early next morning as the journey from Bukittinggi to our airport was quite long. Since it was my first time at Indonesia, I find it quite fun having a holiday there.
